Europa League Matchday Five Summary

Just one matchday of the group stage remains for sides to book their place in the last 32 and in matchday five, there were goals aplenty with 19 sides hitting two or more.

A
FC Zurich kept up their hopes of advancing with a 3-1 win at home to Apollon who as a result cannot qualify but it was the Cypriots who opened the scoring as Rosa struck in the 23rd minute. The home side drew level in the 31st minute through Djmsiti before going ahead seven minutes later via a Chikhaoui penalty who sealed the win with a second from the spot in the 59th minute.

Both Villarreal and Borussia Moenchengladbach are still in the hunt for the next round after a 2-2 draw which saw the home side open the scoring in the 26th minute through Vietto but they were hit by a double blow in as many minutes as Araujo levelled for the visitors in the 55th minute ahead of a second from Xhaka in the 57th minute. However, Villarreal fought back well and claimed a point thanks to an 63rd minute equaliser from Cheryshev.

Already qualified Club Brugge remain top of the group after a 0-0 draw away to Torino who are still in the hunt to advance despite only claiming a point. The Italians remain second but just two points ahead of HJK Helsinki who close the gap with a 2-1 win over Copehagen with the Danes unable to advance as a result.

Baah gave the home side the lead in the 29th minute before Nillson levelled in the 89th minute to set up a tense finish which ended with Kandji sealing a last-gasp win for the Finns in the 90th minute.

Tottenham maintained their unbeaten record with a 1-0 win at home to Partizan Belgrade in a game which was halted in the first half due to a minor pitch invasion but the hosts shrugged off the furore and went ahead in the 49th minute with a strike from Stambouli which was enough to secure all three points.

Besiktas also remain unbeaten despite letting a 2-0 lead slip away to Asteras who salvaged a point in a 2-2 draw, The visitors went ahead in the 15th minute through Demba Ba and doubled the lead in the 61st minute when Tore converted from the spot. Barrales reduced the deficit in the 72nd minute for the home side whose hope rose when Hutchinson was sent off for the Turks and even further when Parra levelled in the 82nd minute for 2-2 which is how it ended.

Red Bull Salzburg moved clear at the top of the group and remain unbeaten after a 3-1 win away to Celtic who despite the loss advance to the next round due to Astra's win over Dinamo Zagreb. Salzburg raced into a 2-0 lead with a brace from Carvalho in the eighth and 13th minutes before being pegged back by a Johansen strike on the half-hour mark.

 However, the win was sealed late in by a 90th minute strike from Keita while in the other game, Astra moved third with a 1-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb with the winning goal coming from Bukari in the 50th minute.

Dinamo Moscow maintained their perfect record with a 2-1 win at home to Panathinaikos who are still without a win and thought a maiden victory was in their sights when they took a 14th minute lead through Berg but their hopes were dashed by two strikes in five minutes as Triantapyllopoulos hit into his own net in the 55th minute before Ionov secure the win for the hosts in the 61st minute.

PSV Eindhoven secured their place in the last 32 after coming from behind to draw 3-3 away to Estoril but the Dutch side had led early on when Depay put them in front in the sixth minute. Carvalho equalised in the 12th minute before Narsingh restored the lead for the visitors just two minutes later, Miranda and Amado put the home side 3-1 up in the 30th and 39th minutes but an 82nd minute leveller from Wijnaldum secured a vital point for PSV.

Inter Milan moved clear at the group's summit after a 2-1 win over Dnipro who despite the loss are still in the hunt to advance and went ahead in the 16th minute through Rotan before being pegged back in the 30th minute via Kuzmanovic's strike. Ranocchia saw red in the 46th minute for the home side but they powered on and sealed the win just four minutes later with a goal from Osvaldo.


St Etienne remain without a win but also unbeaten after a fifth successive draw as they drew 1-1 at home to FC Qarabag with the visitors going in front in the 15th minute with a strike from Nadirov but were denied the win by a levelled from Van Wolfswinkel who struck in the 21st minute.

Feyernoord sit top of the group after securing a 2-0 win at home to holders Sevlla with Toonstra putting them in front in the 56th minute, El Ahmadi sealed the win with a strike seven minutes from the end to put the Dutch side on top and well placed to advance.

Rijeka also are still in the hunt to advance after they claimed a 2-0 win at home to Standard Liege with the home side opening the scoring in the 25th minute through Magalhaes before the visitors were dealt a double blow with the dismissal of Arslangie in the 33rd minute added to by the resulting penalty converted by Kramaric.

Everton top the group and advanced to the next round after a 2-0 win away to Wolfsburg who are still in the hunt despite the loss and fell behind in the 43rd minute to an opening goal from Romelu Lukaku whose strike was followed up in the 75th minute by a goal from Kevin Mirallas.

Lille have a slim hope of advancing after coming from behind away to Krasnodar to claim a 1-1 draw with Ferreira putting the home side in front in the 35th minute only to have his effort cancelled out in the 79th minute by an equaliser from Roux.

Napoli and Sparta Prague are level on points at the top after a 0-0 draw while Young Boys kept up their hopes of advancing with a 3-1 win away to winless Slovan Bratislava with the Swiss side taking the lead in the ninth minute courtesy of a penalty from Hoarau.

Slovan levelled through Soumah just two minutes later but the visitors regained the lead through Kubo in the 18th minute before the latter added his second in the 63rd minute to wrap up the win.

Dynamo Kiev sit top of the group after securing a place in the next round via a 2-0 win at home to Rio Ave with Lens opening the scoring in the 53rd minute before the points were wrapped up in the 77th minute courtesy of a strike from Veloso.

Aalborg are in a good position to advance after a 1-0 win at home to Steaua Bucharest who are also in the hunt despite falling behind to a 72nd minute winner from Enevoldsen which was enough to secure all three points.


K
Fiorentina top the group and remain unbeaten after a 2-1 win away to Guingamp which began with Marin opening the scoring for the visitors in the sixth minute before Babacar added a second in the 13th minute. However, Guingamp were handed some good luck just before the interval with the dismissal of Basanta in the 44th minute followed by Beuvue converting the resulting penalty but the Italians held on for the win.

PAOK are also in the hunt to advance after a 2-0 win against Dinamo Minsk with a late brace from Athanasiadis in the 82nd and 88th minutes sealing the points.

Legia Warsaw sit top of the group despite suffering a 1-0 defeat away to Lokoren with the vital strike coming inside seven minutes through Vanaken while Trabzonspor sit second after a 3-1 win at home to Metalist with Belkalem putting the home side in front in the 36th minute before being pegged back by Gomenyuk's 68th minute equaliser.

Medjani was dismissed for the hosts in the 77th minute but they powered on and sealed the win with two late goals from Ekici in the 87th minute and Goryainov's own goal in the final minute.
