Matchday two saw some sides look to recover from losses while others had their sights on a second consecutive win with a minority looking to build on a draw in their first game of the group stage.

Real Madrid recovered from an early shock to win 2-1 away to Ludogorets, the Bulgarians took the lead after six minutes with a strike from Marcelinho before a surprise penalty miss from Cristiano Ronaldo in the 11th minute maintained the hosts advantage.
Cristiano Ronaldo made amends for his earlier miss by converting from the spot in the 25th minute to level the score at 1-1 and the La Liga side ensured that their 100% start to the campaign would continue when they went 2-1 ahead in the 77th minute with a goal from Karim Benzema which sealed the points.

Bayer Leverkusen got of the mark in the group with a 3-1 win over Benfica with strikes from Kießling and Heung-Min in the 25th and 34th minutes putting the Germans in control at the interval before Salvio reduced the deficit for the Portuguese side in the 61st minute. However, Leverkusen secured the win in the 64th minute with a successful penalty from Calhanoglu for 3-1. Zenit and Monaco shared the points in a 0-0 draw which to be fair neither side will be proud of given they each had the chance to go clear at the top of the group.

Arsenal bounced back from their opening defeat in style with a 4-1 win at home to Galatasaray with Danny Welbeck opening the scoring in the 22nd minute before adding a second on the half hour mark for 2-0. Alexis Sanchez put the hosts in control at 3-0 in the 41st minute before Welbeck completed his hat-trick just seven minutes into the second half for a 4-0 lead. Wojciech Szczesny was dismissed for Arsenal on the hour with Yilmaz converting the resulting penalty for 4-1 but Arsenal held firm for the win.
Borussia Dortmund extended their perfect start to the group stage with a comfortable 3-0 win away to Anderlecht with Ciro Immobile opening the scoring after only three minutes. The Belgians did well to keep the score at one but were unable to draw level.
