A six-goal thriller at St James' Park saw Newcastle and Crystal Palace share the points in a 3-3 draw which began rapidly as Dwight Gayle put the Eagles in front inside the first minute but Newcastle drew level eight minutes before half-time with a leveller from summer signing Daryl Janmaat.
Jason Puncheon restored Palace's lead just three minutes into the second half but again Newcastle responded with another summer signing drawing them level in the 73rd minute in the form of Rolando Aarons who also was influential in the Magpies going in front in the 88th minute with Mike Williamson getting the final touch for 3-2. Palace secured a point in the fifth of seven minutes injury time as on-loan Wilfred Zaha ensured a share of the points at 3-3.
Newly promoted QPR recorded their first win of the season with a 1-0 win over Sunderland with Charlie Austin striking the winning goal just before half-time to end the visitors unbeaten start to the season.
Swansea continued their perfect start to the season with a comfortable 3-0 win over West Brom with the hosts making a rapid start by going in front inside three minutes with a strike from Nathan Dyer with a stunning goal from Wayne Routeledge in the 24th minute putting them in control. The Baggies were unable to produce a response and the Swans sealed all three points in the 71st minute with Nathan Dyer scoring his second effort of the afternoon to make it three wins in a row for the Welsh side.
Southampton secured their first win of the season with a 3-1 win away to West Ham despite the Hammers going in front in the 27th minute with a strike from Mark Noble but the Saints went into the interval on even terms as Morgan Schneiderlin brought them level in the 45th minute.
The French midfielder put the visitors in front with his second goal in the 68th minute and all three points were secured in the 83rd minute as summer signing Graziano Pellé struck for the first time since joining from Feyernoord.
"Saturday Night Football" saw a stunning nine-goal thriller between Everton and Chelsea at Goodison Park which began with an instant breakthrough for the visitors as Diego Costa opened the scoring inside the first minute followed by a second strike from Branislav Ivanovic just two minutes later.
Everton took until just before half-time to bounce back from their poor start as Kevin Mirallas reduced the deficit to 2-1 but Chelsea regained their two-goal advantage in the 67th minute as shot from Eden Hazard clipped in off Toffees defender Seamus Coleman and past the helpless Tim Howard for 3-1.
However, Everton responded instantly with a strike from Steven Naismith for 3-2 before three goals in as many minutes put Chelsea 5-3 in front as Nemanja Matic and Ramires struck either side of a goal from former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o and the visitors put the gloss on a superb performance with a sixth goal in the final minute from Diego Costa.
